Land Surveying Party Chief

West Company, a division of Landpoint, is currently looking for candidates with high integrity and an excellent attention to detail to fill a position as a Surveying Crew Chief for our Midland, Texas operation.  Must have a minimum of 5 years total survey experience, 3 of which as a Party Chief with pipeline and oil and gas experience.  Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required.  Must have high school education or GED, and be physically able to work long hours, walk long distances and carry heavy loads. Travel is required from time to time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Will work primarily in the field on control, topographic surveys, and pipeline surveys as Party Chief of a one, two or three-person field crew
  • May also perform some office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey computer programs
  • Will accurately run and adjust survey measuring instruments including levels, GPS equipment, and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities
  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data
  • Take accurate and clear notes
  • Reads and understands plans and specifications
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors
  • Know principles of monumentation, staking and marking
  • Must have good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Attendance, punctuality and reliability are crucial
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather
